Published by Blackmagic Design, DaVinci Resolve is absolutely brilliant! Consider, for example, the films nominated for last year’s Oscars, including The Avengers: Infinity War, Solo: A Star Wars Story, Bohemian Rapsody or Green Book. What do they have in common? All have been color graded in Resolve, and this process is its true showpiece. But DaVinci is a real “All in one” software enabling comprehensive video editing, which apart from the aforementioned offers a lot of extremely advanced functions, also for editing, creating special effects and sound editing. However, all this means that smooth navigation between the Media, Cut, Edit, Fusion, Fairlight, Color and Deliver tabs requires a lot of knowledge and experience. In return, after reaching the appropriate level, the program pays off with great impressions both from the use itself and from the results of work!
However, DaVinci Resolve is not a software that can be learned thanks to several tutorials watched, so if someone would like to dive into the secrets of post-production and use its potential, it is definitely worth taking part in training organized by certified Blackmagic Design training units. One of them is Frank – Blackmagic Design DaVinci Resolve Training Partner from Katowice (link), which I can honestly recommend based on my own experience. Within 3 days, in a relaxed atmosphere, in a group of several people, but above all under the watchful eye of coaches Maciej Gryzełko and Szymon Jędrys, apart from regularizing my knowledge, I obtained a lot of new information and practical tips, which directed my further development and, consequently, allowed me to pass the exam and obtain from Blackmagic Design “Certified End User” title.
Below I present a video from a free webinar organized by X-Rite, during which Maciej and Szymon present their effective workflow at DaVinci Resolve, utilizing by the way materials recorded by Kaktus.studio during the Creative Masteclass Exclusive workshop in December 2019 (link to movie).
